Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in updating you. Big things are happening. I was recently asked by Foursquare Missions International to come to Haiti to help in the relief efforts Foursquare is doing in the country. I am here in Haiti on loan from Armenia (where I was launched to for longterm work) for 6 months as of now, planning to return to the work in Armenia after this season. Most of you know that I had spent some time in Haiti previous to being launched to Armenia so I was a good candidate for knowing what things are like here.
Our objective is to start a larger feeding program. Currently we are feeding about 500 people a week which translates to about 100-150 families being distributed to from the damaged church here. We are also planning on rebuilding homes near the church as well. This is all done during the rebuilding phase and will be multiplied much more once we can build a security wall around the church. This will allow us to store more food, relief supplies and use the church as a larger point of distribution.
We are excited also about the possibilities to do feeding programs in the schools that we are connected to. Seven schools and one orphanage are in our network right now. We are looking forward to being able to provide food and clean water to those children as we expand our capacity to reach out to many more in need here.
We are also located closely to 2 large tent camps of displaced people living in temporary situations. The needs are great there also and we look to that area as a point of great need – both with food, clean water, toilets/sanitation, and medical needs.
At the church we are also preparing to be able to hold medical clinics on site, serving the local area with much needed medical supplies and care.
Please continue to pray for Armenia (which I am away from temporarily) and that God would open the doors for our work there. We still haven’t been able to clear our container through customs. And also pray for Haiti, and the work that we are doing here, that God would open doors to be able to do more to rebuild Haiti.
With hope,
Chad
